Cane-Line Breaking

I have had a similar problem with the cross threads of the weave breaking after three years of use. The model is very similar as 5490U the Chester chair depicted on their website. Same type of weave. We live in a very mild climate on the west coast of Canada - no overly cold or hot temperature extremes. In fact the chair hasn't been sat in all that much. The website claims this furniture can be left outside for years with no adverse effects. Not the case. I have contacted the vendor (Chint'z and Company) so will see what they think. It was expensive so I'm not very happy.

Furniture overpriced junk!!!!

We purchased 16 chaise loungers at almost $1200 each. They fell apart. We contacted the company Cane Line and there response was our guests at the hotel were too big.Spent thousands of dollars on 16 chaise lounges for my hotel. After a few months they began to fail. See letter of response of manufacturer below. BUYER BEWARE. They do not stand behind warranty. They admit they had to re-engineer the product however call my hotel guests heavy users. We are a Boutique Hotel with a private pool area. LETTER FROM CAIN-LINE admitting manufacturer issue!!! I am sorry to read your frustration, as we are very sorry of the inconvenience cause to you and your customer, however I can assure you that we have taken this problem seriously – and done our best to find the RIGHT solution. After we received the complaint we had to investigate – as we have sold this sunbed well many years – and have never had a similar complaint. In fact the product has been almost trouble free for long time (also many contract deliveries). Only issue we have had was that the wheels would not turn – in case it was not used regularly. We concluded that your customer were a “Heavy user” – with Heavy people using it. Therefore we decided to strengthen the sunbed back construction before sending replacements so we were 110% sure – no more issues could come from them. We reengineered the back – I saw it and confirmed it myself in Indonesia some weeks ago. We changed/reinforced 4 different places, so I would be very surprised if it would not be strong enough. Also we have changed the construction of the wheel (will be on all future orders of Sunbeds)- this is not only because of this problem – as here we have seen the problem elsewhere too. We managed to make these changes and was onsite to confirm them before production. So development took us app. 4 weeks – but production only maybe 2 weeks. It can not in my world be done any faster. I am sad and surprised you think we did not do a good job here – as we did our best to provide the customer with a well working product,

Cane-Line

We purchased Cane-Line outdoor furniture for our beach front home in Mexico. after about 1 1/2 year the brown "twine" type weave that forms the structure of the chairs, love seat and chaises began to break. In my opinion, this is not long-lived furniture. We spent a fortune on this stuff and now, after 4 years, we are replacing it all. It has looked bad for 2 years. We intend to go with cast aluminum. I advise others to avoid this manufacturer. In fact, I would avoid all products that use coated twine type construction for outdoor use. Cane-line in particular, I would avoid as a manufacturer because the label said safe for outdoors in the sun and "guaranteed", but they do not respond to email correspondence. This was a very, very expensive lesson.

Yes. I can say that I had the same problem with the weave breaking in the back of the chair after a year or two.

We could still continue to use the chairs. However, on the 6th year, the weave broke completely all across the edge of the seat on one chair and the same thing happened to a second chair a few months later. I was able to connect with Cane-Line; however, I was informed there were no guarantees after 1-3 years, they didn't know of anyone in Canada who could repair it, and perhaps I could look for a handy-man. I would think that their craftsmen might find the last suggestion a little demeaning.

However, it is possible that the chairs were put together by handymen in Denmark. I really don't know. I bought the Hamsted patio set. It cost more than $2300 Cdn.

I expected more from this company.

The store that sold the set to me no longer deals with Cane-Line because they "were not very cooperative" when they dealt with them. Be wary of this type of furniture.
